Indicee Named a NextGen Company by the Software & Information Industry Association

by Elizabeth Adams on April 12th, 2012

VANCOUVER, BC – Indicee Inc. (“Indicee”), the leading cloud business intelligence platform, has been selected as one of just four 2012 ‘NextGen Program’ companies by the Software & Information Industry Association (“SIIA”).

Quote from Rhianna Collier, SIIAThe SIIA identified the final four companies that will take part in their NextGen Program in an announcement made earlier this week. The program recognizes innovative cloud computing companies and provides them with an opportunity to showcase their products at ISV conference All About the Cloud, on May 8-10 in San Francisco.

Indicee was chosen from over forty initial applicants and thirteen finalists by a panel of industry judges. The final companies were whittled down to just four winners based on scores across three areas of innovation: product, business model and presentation.

(“Indicee”), the leading cloud business intelligence platform, has announced a partnership with global cloud integration provider Pervasive Software (“Pervasive”) to give customers and prospects rapid access to Indicee analytics in the cloud with Pervasive’s full range of cloud and on-premises data connectivity.

Using the new Indicee Connector, customers can be up and running with a full analytics solution in just days. Breaking Down Barriers to BI Adoption (or, Anyone for Another Round of “Pin The Report On The IT Guy”?)

by Mark Cunningham on April 5th, 2012

Wrecking ball hitting a wallDespite predictions that it’s going to be a big year for business intelligence (BI), and Gartner placing it as the No. 1 priority for CIOs in 2012, BI suffers from a checkered past.

According to the research, most BI projects are only moderately successful, many fail, and for those that succeed, adoption rates are pretty underwhelming.

Cindi Howson wrote an interesting piece on InformationWeek towards the end of last year on how rates of BI adoption have remained stuck somewhere between 25% and 30% for years. That is to say, only 25 to 30 percent of employees who could benefit from BI are actually using it, based on BI Scorecard’s 2011 Successful BI Survey.

“That means that many business users who make decisions lack the tools to make them on facts, relying instead on static spreadmarts or gut feel,” says Howson.

Independent surveys by other analysts show similar results, and the 25% estimate is consistent with what I’ve seen over the past 20 years in the BI industry.

So, if BI is as beneficial as everyone believes, why is it so hard to get people to use it?

The March BI Round-Up

by Elizabeth Adams on March 30th, 2012

Baseball KitBig Data continues to be the industry’s hottest topic. This month, it featured heavily at both CeBIT and SXSW. But, as with any new tech buzzword, there are mixed views on what it means and how businesses can take advantage of it. A predicted shortage in analytical skills, from a study by McKinsey’s Business Technology Office and MGI, continues to fuel this debate.

Here’s our round-up of what got the BI industry talking in March:

BI adoption increases, but benefits elude business: report via iTWire
Perhaps the most shared report this month. Independent IT and telecoms analyst firm, Ovum, says BI and analytics will continue to remain front and center for IT and business agendas in 2012. But despite increasing adoption, the benefits of BI remain elusive for many organizations, in part because traditional BI technologies are failing to address two fundamental business needs: agility and adaptability. Two of our favorite words at Indicee…

New Date Filters – Direct to Your Dashboard

by Graham Ross on March 28th, 2012

We love being a cloud company. It means that when our customers request something new for the Indicee app, we’re able to build it in just a few weeks, and deliver it direct to the dashboard.

In the latest Indicee release, we’ve included a couple of handy new features in response to recent customer requests. We’ve added several new date filtering options to give greater control over dashboards, and upgraded our admin interface to make finding common attributes much simpler.

As always, you can join our next demo webinar with BI expert Craig Todd, on Thursday 29 March, to see the latest features in action. You can also read more about any of our recent releases on the Indicee releases page of our website.

Let’s take a look at what’s new:

Dates, Dates and More Dates
Detailed control over date filtering

Indicee Cloud BI Date Picker

As part of our Holiday release, we made it possible to add filter widgets right on your dashboards. The most common use for this is filtering all of the reports on a dashboard to a common time period.

Due to popular demand, we’ve now updated our date picker widget to allow virtually any date ranges you can think of. You can choose between relative dates (last 3 months, last quarter) or specific date ranges by quarters, years or days.
