Indicee Cloud BI

Our Spring Release has now hit your browser, bringing a host of new features to make creating and sharing powerful dashboards a breeze.

More than half our customers use Indicee reports and dashboards that are embedded in other cloud applications by our ISV partners. So, this release is all about helping those partners deliver the best analytics user experience possible, while they focus on building their cloud apps.

We’ve extended our Customer Success admin tools to both our partners and customers, providing complete self-service management of users, collaboration groups and rules. Our dashboards continue to get more powerful and flexible, allowing partner ISVs to build one dashboard that will work for all of their customers. We’ve also turned the traditional idea of read-only report consumers on its head, and included new power user features around exception handling and security.

And did we mention performance? We’ve made reporting on large datasets up to a massive 4 times faster… now that’s fast!

Check out all the details of this release, and others, on our Releases page. If you’d like to see the new features in action, we have a 30 minute special Spring 2012 Release: What’s New webinar happening on Tuesday 10 July, at 10am PDT. Let Craig Todd, Indicee Customer Success Director, show you around.

In the meantime, here’s what’s new:

Self-service Collaboration and User Management
Self-service user management

Indicee Cloud BI Collaboration Admin

With our new admin app, cloud ISVs can empower customers to manage their embedded reporting and analytics configuration. Everything from adding new users to adjusting permissions and organization structure. One step closer to self-service analytics for cloud ISVs and their customers. Of course, as always, this can be completely automated through the Indicee API.

Powerful collaboration

Indicee Cloud BI Collaboration Admin

The new Indicee admin interface also controls collaboration groups allowing customers to define how reports and data are shared within the organization. Cloud ISVs can now put this control directly into the hands of their customers, allowing them to decide how embedded reports should be shared.

Smart groups

Our new “smart groups” automatically add users to collaboration groups based on their location in an organization’s hierarchy. This is a great feature for cloud apps that tend to default to structured sharing based on organization hierarchy, as it makes for no touch collaboration group management. One less thing for a ISV partners to manage in their analytics service.

Power user or report consumer? Today’s users are both!

The Indicee Question Panel

Stop teasing report consumers with read-only information. Today’s cloud apps users are much more sophisticated than that. Moving forward from our consumer (viewing reports) and author (creating reports) model, you can now blend the two and allow consumers to further investigate data using Indicee’s question panel, without being a full report author. Let them ask questions and get answers directly.

Dashboards? Or Custom BI Applications?
Killer dashboards for partner ISVs

We can all understand why users want dynamic filters right on their dashboards. Create one dashboard and use it for many purposes. We’ve taken this concept even further for partners that embed Indicee reports into their applications. Cloud ISVs need a set of reports and dashboards that work across all of their customers otherwise they end up creating custom reports each time. This new power feature lets the reports on a dashboard react to each other. Pull a piece of information from one report widget and feed it to another for a really dynamic view.

Export data right from the dashboard

Indicee dashboards have become so powerful, our customers are starting to use them for all types of detailed analysis. Little need to drill into the underlying reports anymore. Now you can export the contents of a widget directly from the dashboard. One less reason to drill down, one more click saved!

Cloud BI Power Features – Exception Handling and Security
Flexible password policies for partners

As Indicee becomes embedded in more and more cloud applications, policies that work for us may not work for all our partners.

Indicee passwords now have a number of parameters that can be set to match an organization’s policies. These include password length, maximum failed login attempts and message display for failed logins.

Debug vs friendly error reporting

Another power feature for our cloud ISV partners and more adventurous customers. Now you can choose the level of detail you receive in error messages. Some users like detail, some really just want to hit the refresh button. For our power users and platform developers, we’ve added the ability to drill into certain error conditions and self-diagnose. Otherwise, simply refresh.

Performance
Big data keeps getting bigger, Indicee keeps getting faster

Our Spring Release has a number of major upgrades to our infrastructure, as well as our application, that make the user experience for reports operating on large datasets up to 4 times faster.
